Start - Haxey Church, High Street, DN9 2HY

  • 1
From the car park, turn left uphill briefly, then right onto a tarmac lane. When it bends left, go right. The lane becomes a track. Look for a waymarked path on the left, cross a stile, go up a slight rise, and cross another stile.
  • 2
Cross the stile, continuing in the same line uphill to a gap in the hedge - where you cross a third stile, once again following the same line.
  • 3
Go through a "gate" where you see farm buildings on your right and continue downhill on a good track to join Turbary Road. These fields sometimes contain rare breeds of sheep.
  • 4
Join the road, bearing left. This is a quiet lane and you will pass 2 farms on your left.
  • 5
After Skyers Farm (right), take the gravel lane left. As it bends right, go straight on the waymarked headland path. Pass Haslams Farm, join the rising lane to a track junction. Turn left, then after 50m take the fingerposted path up to the water tower.
  • 6
The track bears right to reach a lane, turn left here and follow the lane along the hill. Haxey church is seen ahead right. The road bears right joining the main road and you can see the church and car park.
