Cafe Indie is a cafe, music venue and youth work project.

In the day, we’re a relaxed Cafe hosting a wide range of groups, friends and customers – staffed by our youth work team and young volunteers. In the evening, we become an arts venue – hosting live music, poetry and exhibitions. Please see our website or in house promotional material to see what’s coming up. Underpinning all this, the Cafe is a youth work project. We run various programs for young people including the volunteer program, music development, youth clubs, a drop-in and issue-based sessions. We never forget that our young people are our primary reason for being. Sometimes our customers do, so please remember the person serving you is most likely a volunteer, here for their own development and you can play a role in that. There’s more to the Cafe than you see. Up, upstairs, we have a creative youth work and event space, providing an ideas workshop for the development and progression of our young people. Cafe Indie isn’t about indie music, it’s about being independent.

Quality food and drink in a relaxed environment-

All of our food is freshly prepared on the premises, and we take pride in ensuring it is made to the highest quality.

A community project-

We are a not-for-profit. We provide work experience, training and youth work support to young people aged 16-25. Our cafe is staffed by young volunteers, giving them the chance to develop job skills and improve their prospects. It works too – over 60% of our volunteers go on to secure paid employment. We also host a daily drop in for children aged 13-18 and work with a vast array of community groups to address social issues, serving as a springboard for community development.

Live music and events-

We offer a high quality program of original live music across all genres – from national and international touring acts to developing our local scene. The venue is intimate but has a reputation for lively and respectful crowds and is one of the best places to enjoy live entertainment in the area. We also host a wide range of other arts, culture and social events.

Hire Cafe Indie-

Hire out the cafe at an affordable rate for your own special occasion or intimate event. Get in touch for info and prices.

Cameron Huggins Blacksmith - Redbourne

featured image from the article: Curly’s Athletes

Award-Winning Traditional Blacksmith based in Redbourne, North Lincs, using hammer and tongs to create one of a kind pieces. Cameron works full time as a Blacksmith creating commissioned pieces and work for local suppliers.

A traditional village forge in the heart of Rural Lincolnshire.

The earliest recorded evidence of the forge’s existence comes from a pencil sketch drawn by a ‘C Nattes’ in 1795, commissioned by the Duke of St Albans (for whose estate the forge was originally built). Rumour has it that the artist was commissioned to come up from London and see a number of buildings built for the Duke so that he could draw them for him; he then went back to his studio in London to draw the buildings. This might help explain why, perhaps, the forge is not instantly recognisable as it stands today – I think a fair amount of artistic license was used when recreating the forge from memory! Yet, the colonnades and rearing white horse (as well as the title of the drawing “Blacksmith shop at Redbourne”) confirm that it is the building that still stands today. (Please visit Cameron’s website for more.)

Blacksmithing Experiences:

An award-winning Experience at the Blacksmith’s Shop in Redbourne is the perfect introduction to the traditional art of blacksmithing. Whether you’ve tried your hand at smithing before, or it’s just something you’ve always wanted to do, these workshops offer the ideal place to hone your skills, with a very hands-on, immersive approach from the very start. Anything you make is yours to take home with you! Lessons run from Mondays to Thursdays only.

Redbourne is a beautiful village in the heart of North Lincolnshire. The forge is easily accessible from the A15 and is easy to find – the horse on the top of the forge is hard to miss! The postcode is DN21 4QJ.
