Scunthorpe parkrun is part of an international network of parkruns which provide a safe environment to run, jog or walk a measured 5km route around Central Park Scunthorpe every Saturday morning from 9am. It is a friendly, non-judgemental event in which to exercise with like-minded people and meet friends. The event is run entirely by volunteers who are usually parkrunners themselves though some volunteer just to be part of the event or to support family members who are taking part.
The route is mostly on tarmac or laid paths, though there is a section through the woods which is quite rough path which can make wheelchair access difficult, but not impossible. The route is marshalled to check participants are safe and there is a Tail Walker every week to ensure even the slowest do not finish last or alone.
If participants want to receive a time for covering the route, they can register at register | parkrun UK to produce a barcode which will be required at the end of the course. Individuals will be informed of their times by email and text and results are recorded on our website results | Scunthorpe parkrun
Before every parkrun there is a first timers welcome for our volunteers to explain the route and answer any questions at about 8. 50am. Safeguarding is taken very seriously and there is a parkrun Code (which is a condition of registration) which must be followed. Taking part with a single dog on a short hand held lead is permitted as is running with a pushchair (but not both, sorry! ).
Children under 11 must be within an arm's reach of a responsible adult and must not run alone at this event.
