About The Ted Lewis Visitor Centre

Best known for creating Jack Carter—the iconic character brought to life by Michael Caine in the cult classic Get Carter—Lewis lived and worked in Barton-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire.

The Centre is an archive and exhibition space celebrating his art, life, and times. Explore original sketches and fine art, discover how Lewis contributed to animation on The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine, and immerse yourself in the gritty worlds he wrote about. Enjoy films, visuals, and a dedicated bookstore, or follow the Ted Lewis Trail around Barton for a deeper connection to his story.

Whether you’re a fan of crime fiction, British cinema, or local heritage, The Ted Lewis Centre offers a unique cultural experience. It’s a must-see for literature lovers and anyone curious about the creative roots of one of Britain’s most influential storytellers.
