Elsham Golf Club, founded in 1900, is one of Lincolnshire’s premier golfing destinations. Nestled in 135 acres of gently undulating countryside between Scunthorpe and Grimsby, the course blends heathland and parkland features to create a scenic and challenging layout. Originally a 9-hole course, it was expanded to 18 holes in the early 1930s by professional golfer Tom Williamson, with further enhancements made in the 1980s and early 2000s to refine its playability and aesthetics.
The course stretches 6,453 yards from the championship tees, with a par of 71. It features two returning nines and a variety of hole designs, including consecutive par fives at the 4th and 5th, and a strong finishing sequence of par fours from the 15th onward. Notable holes include the par-three 6th, guarded by a grass ditch, and the doglegged 15th, which demands strategic shot placement. These elements make Elsham a rewarding challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Elsham Golf Club has hosted numerous prestigious events, including the English Senior Men’s Stroke Play Championship in 2019, which it co-hosted with Holme Hall Golf Club. The club is also proud to count Open Championship winner Tony Jacklin CBE among its honorary members, adding to its legacy and reputation within the golfing community.
Beyond the course, Elsham Golf Club offers excellent facilities, including a welcoming clubhouse, professional coaching, and a pro shop. The club is open to visitors and societies, with competitive green fees and membership options. Its location just off the M180 makes it easily accessible for golfers across the region, and its commitment to hospitality ensures a memorable experience both on and off the course.
