How much do you know about Elsham, North Lincolnshire?

Elsham is named as Elesham in the Domesday Book.
The name of the village has Anglo Saxon origins and is one of the only Saxon-named settlements of the area, as many of the villages have Danish names
Elsham has a Grade II* listed Anglican church from the 12th century which is dedicated to All Saints and was restored in 1874
Richard Hornsby the agricultural engineer was born in Elsham and so was astronomer Wallace. L. W. Sargent. George Green won the Medal of Honor in the American Civil war and was also born in Elsham.
Elsham is also the home of Pipers Crisp Co., winners of 23 "Great Taste Awards Gold" since 2007

? Kingsway Gardens, Samaritans gardens

Getting outside is good for the body and the soul, and its important to look after yourself especially in winter.

This week we are suggesting a walk around Kingsway Gardens, which is a park located at the western entrance to the industrial garden town of Scunthorpe.

The Gardens are beautifully kept and have interesting features that are great to look at even in winter, there is also a well-equipped children’s playground!

In July 2021 the centrepiece of the gardens has been re-planted in honour of the Samaritans and the life of its founder, Barton-born Chad Varah.

The Normanby Hall Adventure Race is on again this year!

It is taking place on the 27th March 2022 Normanby Hall Country Park and takes place over around 10kms of cross country horse course with water / mud / sand / crawl nets and jumps... lots and lots of jumps (plus newly added hills and a swamp!)
