Carr Lane walk

If you are looking for a flat walk and views of the countryside then this week we would suggest a walk down Carr lane in Bonby.

The walk follows a stream and goes over a small bridge which is a great place for spotting wildlife and follows down to the Ancholme at the bottom.
Bring a flask of tea and your walking boots as there is a lovely bench to sit on and enjoy the fresh air!

How much do you know about Far Ings, North Lincolnshire?

• The Humber foreshore was a claypit which was the hub of the local tile and cement industry from 1850 to 1959, but were left abandoned by the early 20th century when the clay ran out.
• The clay workings eventually filled with water and were taken over by reeds until the Lincolnshire wildlife trust took the site over in 1983, and opened it in the same year.
• In April 2005 it was declared a national nature reserve.
• Onsite there are more than 250 species of moths, 230 species of wildflower, and at least 19 species of butterflies identified from Far Ings.
• The first Eurasian bitterns to breed in Lincolnshire in over 30 years were seen at Far Ings in 2000.
• A Blyth's reed warbler was spotted at the reserve in June 2020

This week we are suggesting the ‘Epworth East’ Walk which has a longer option (3.5 miles) and a shorter option (2.6 miles).
