ARE YOUR BOOTS MADE FOR WALKING?

Take in the beautiful scenery and get some exercise at the popular Barton Walking Festival from Monday 5 September to Sunday 11 September.

Various walks have been organised as part of the festival giving people the chance to explore the historic landscape and wildlife havens of Barton-upon-Humber.

Join a led walk with a knowledgeable guide or just enjoy a leisurely self-guided walk – it is up to you!

The walks include:
•Nordic Walking on Monday 5 September and Thursday 8 September at 10.30am. Meet outside Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre. Walking poles will be available.
•Waters’ Edge Ranger Ramble on Saturday 10 September at 10.30am from The Old Tile Works. This is a guided five and a half mile walk taking in the views of Far Ings Nature Reserve and the area west of Barton.
•Bat Walk on Saturday 10 September at 7.15pm from Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre and Country Park main entrance. This is a guided walk between one and two miles. Booking is essential for this walk. To book your place call 01724 735349 or 0758629860.
•Baysgarth House Bat Walk on Sunday 11 September at 7.15pm. Meet at Baysgarth Leisure Centre. This is a guided one mile walk. Booking is essential. To book your place call 01724 735349 or 07586293860.
•Waters’ Edge Ranger Ramble on Sunday 11 September at 1.30pm from The Old Tiles Works. This is a guided three and a half mile walk taking in the views of the east of Barton area.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the walks. Just turn up on the day at the designated starting points, unless booking is required.

Alternatively, you can explore Barton at your own pace with one of Barton Civic Society’s Walks. Walks include: Georgian, Waterside and Victorian starting at various prominent points in Barton.

Whilst on your adventures you can explore the usually closed historic buildings of Barton for the annual Heritage Open Days. The ‘Behind Closed Doors’ event opens up buildings such as St Peter’s Church, Tyrwhitt Hall and Joseph Wright Hall for visitors to enjoy from Thursday 8 September to Sunday 11 September.
