On the East side of the River Trent, the pretty villages of Burton upon Stather, Normaby and Thealby are situated. In the area you can visit one of North Lincolnshire’s much loved attractions Normanby Hall Country Park.
Up to 1914, the river landing at Burton upon Stather was used as a stopping point by steamers between Gainsborough and Hull. A large slipway of concrete and wood to the north of Burton upon Stather was built in 1944. It was used for testing and training amphibious tanks during the Second World War.
