North Lincolnshire Museum offers great day out for all the family. Featuring a range of permanent galleries and a changing exhibition galleries. The Museum offers a history experience for all the family. You can explore through a range of award winning collections and interactive displays.

Permanent Galleries

All galleries feature family friendly activities and interactives, including dressing up, games and object handling.

Our galleries include:

Archaeology Gallery

Discover the archaeology of North Lincolnshire from the first human arrivals in the early Stone Age to the 17th century. Explore objects from tiny Iron Age coins to a Bronze Age boat. Come face to face with the Winterton Roman Lady.

Local History Gallery

Investigate the development of North Lincolnshire from the early 1800s to the outbreak of the Second World War. Find out about local folklore and customs such as the Haxey Hood and Plough Jags.

People’s War Gallery

Experience life in North Lincolnshire during the Second World War. Find out what life was like for those left behind when the men went to war. Step inside an Anderson Shelter and listen to an air raid siren.

Post-War Gallery

Explore life in 1950s, 60s and 70s North Lincolnshire. Investigate the modern gadgets in the 50s style kitchen and 60s living room.

 

Our temporary exhibitions:

 

 Animals at Home – Until 29 September 2019

Explore three iconic local habitats, the Humber Wetlands, Ancient Woodlands and Coversands Heathland. Get up close to taxidermy birds and beasts for the museum’s collection. Lots of fun interactives for children to participate in.

 

The Plough Jags a Living Tradition – Until 29 September 2019

In this exhibition you will find out about the history of The Plays and what is happening in the present. Come and see Plough Jag costumes and listen to their songs.

 

For families…

Dudley Club – Make and Take

Fun themed activities that explore our collections and exhibitions. Suitable for all ages.10-30am – 3.30pm. Free

This summer we will be making animal and habitat themed crafts, inspired by the Animals at Home exhibition.

 Dudley’s Den

Explore, play, pretend and discover in our space for children under five. Find objects in the dig, handle objects in the museums wall, and babies can chill in the Under the Sea themed area. During the summer holidays this room is open daily for free play 10 am – 4pm, and Sundays 1 – 4pm.
